Mr. Sykes started his career in the Colonial Service in Hong Kong and then served as a diplomat in HM Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

Mr. Sykes has over 35 years' experience as a diplomat, banker and business consultant. He has served on the boards of several asset management and private equity businesses.

He holds an MA in Chinese from Cambridge University and is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.
